With significant procurement and delivery still ahead, you will have the opportunity to manage subcontract packages through the full commercial lifecycle, from initial procurement and appointment through delivery, change management and ultimately final account. The opportunity Working as part of an experienced project commercial team, you will be given genuine responsibility for allocated subcontract packages rather than operating purely in a supporting capacity. The position offers: Ownership of significant subcontract packages Strong procurement exposure Experience across the complete commercial lifecycle Broader involvement in forecasting, risk and change management Exposure to a substantial and technically challenging building project Close working with experienced Senior QS and Commercial Manager-level professionals Opportunity to increase both the scale and complexity of your commercial responsibility A clear progression route towards Senior Quantity Surveyor level Long-term opportunity within a growing UK Building operation The role You will take commercial responsibility for allocated packages, including: Subcontract procurement and tender analysis Commercial negotiation and subcontract appointment Managing valuations, payments and variations Cost reporting and forecasting Monitoring package budgets and commercial performance Managing contractual change and commercial risk Subcontract account management Negotiating and agreeing final accounts Maintaining accurate commercial records Working closely with site, design and project management teams Supporting the Senior QS and Commercial Manager with wider project reporting About you We are interested in speaking with established Project Quantity Surveyors as well as strong Quantity Surveyors who are ready to take on greater responsibility. You will ideally have: UK main contractor experience Experience commercially managing your own subcontract packages Good procurement and tendering experience Practical knowledge of valuations, variations and forecasting Strong subcontract management skills Good commercial and contractual awareness Confidence working directly with subcontractors and operational teams A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification Experience within substantial commercial, residential, hotel, refurbishment or similar building projects would transfer particularly well. Progression The position provides the opportunity to gain stronger project exposure and take increasingly significant commercial responsibility while working alongside an experienced project team. For someone already operating independently at QS level, this provides a credible platform to progress towards Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibility rather than simply making another lateral move. The wider contractor is continuing to grow its UK Building operation, giving the role longer-term potential beyond the initial Edinburgh project. £60,000 £70,000 + car or car allowance + excellent overall benefits package For a confidential discussion about the project, responsibilities and progression opportunity, apply directly or contact Andy at ARC Group.
