Responsible for-Assistant Quantity Surveyors
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial resources of assigned projects in order to maximise planned gross margin and profitability. The role involves managing subcontractors, procurement, cost control, project valuations and financial reporting while ensuring commercial and contractual risks are effectively managed.
The Quantity Surveyor will support the delivery of projects safely, on time and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
This role reports to a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor and supports the wider commercial team in achieving the financial objectives of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Management
- Manage the commercial performance of assigned projects to maximise planned gross margins and profitability.
- Monitor actual gross margin and profit against project budgets and provide regular updates to the Managing or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Manage project cash flow and provide regular financial updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain monthly CVR and CTC reports.
- Provide regular, accrued reports and forecast on financial and operational performance
- Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Create and maintain procurement schedules aligned with the project programme.
- Appoint subcontractors and place orders for materials and plant within delegated authority levels.
- Manage subcontractor relationships including procurement, payments, and contract administration.
- Agree the release of subcontractor retention where appropriate.

Experience
- Experience working within the construction industry specialising in externals including facades
- Knowledge of construction methods and practices
- Experience preparing financial reports such as CVR or cost reports
- Understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
Qualifications
- BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
- Professional accreditation with RICS or CIOB (desirable)
- Valid CSCS Card
- Asbestos Awareness
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work on site where required
