Key Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance: Build, install, and maintain electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, and low- and high-voltage circuits across EfW plant machinery and equipment
Planned and Reactive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and reactive troubleshooting on core plant systems, including CHP (Combined Heat and Power) and AD (Anaerobic Digestion) installations
Fault Diagnosis and Repairs: Identify, diagnose, and repair electrical faults, malfunctions, or failures using testing equipment and schematics
Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition), UK electrical safety codes, and organisational safety protocols
Technical Documentation: Read, interpret, and update schematics, technical diagrams, and maintenance reports; maintain accurate records of work performed, materials, and equipment
Coordination with Teams: Collaborate with operations, mechanical, and engineering teams to optimise plant reliability, contribute to continuous improvement, and support shift operations
Emergency Response: Provide immediate response for urgent electrical issues, including breakdowns affecting plant availability and critical services
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Certifications: Generally required NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and potentially 2391 Inspection and Testing certification
Practical Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic equipment; manual dexterity and troubleshooting skills
