A great opportunity for a junior design engineer to join an expanding building services based company, specialising in building safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating system layout drawings and design documents using CAD software.
- Support senior engineers in producing calculations, schematics, and technical designs.
- Help prepare technical documentation, equipment schedules, and O&M information.
- Undertake site surveys and support feasibility assessments when required.
- Communicate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve basic design queries.
- Ensure all work is accurate, compliant, and delivered to required standards.
- Learn and develop knowledge of fire suppression system design, industry regulations, and best practices.
Skills & Experience Required
- Some experience in M&E, building services, general construction, or related engineering environments.
- Basic to intermediate experience using CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).
- Ability to read or interpret drawings is beneficial.
- Strong willingness to learn technical concepts such as hydraulic systems, compliance standards, and engineering principles.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving mindset with enthusiasm for developing a career in engineering design.
- Understanding of mechanical or electrical building systems.
- Exposure to fire protection systems or building compliance (advantageous but not required).
- Engineering-related qualifications (e.g., BTEC, HNC/HND, or degree).
