Overview
The Account Executive is responsible for managing a portfolio of construction-sector clients, delivering exceptional service, and driving new business growth. This role combines technical insurance expertise, strong relationship management skills, and a commercially driven mindset. Proficiency with the Acturis system is essential, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient processing, and high-quality client service.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Manage and grow a portfolio of construction clients, including contractors, developers, trades, and associated professions.
- Conduct regular client reviews to identify gaps, assess coverage needs, and recommend tailored solutions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring timely responses and excellent service across all touchpoints.
New Business Development
- Actively seek new business opportunities through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and market research.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, presenting compelling value propositions.
- Lead the full new business cycle-from initial contact, needs analysis, and quotation to presentation and onboarding.
- Achieve and exceed new business and retention targets.
Technical & Broking Duties
- Prepare and negotiate insurance quotations, renewals, and placements with insurers.
- Provide technical guidance on construction-specific insurance classes, such as:
- Contractors All Risks (CAR)
- Liability (EL/PL)
- Professional Indemnity
- Plant & Machinery
- Contract Works
- Ensure insurance programmes are compliant and accurately meet client needs.
Acturis System Management
- Use Acturis for all policy administration, including processing MTAs, renewals, and new business.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Generate reports, summaries of cover, and presentations.
- Ensure all data is entered accurately to support audit and compliance standards.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Adhere to FCA requirements and internal compliance frameworks.
- Keep accurate records, ensuring all client communications and transactions are documented.
- Stay updated on market developments, insurer appetite, and regulatory changes.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as an Account Executive within commercial insurance, ideally with exposure to construction risks.
- Strong working knowledge of the Acturis system.
- A demonstrable track record of winning and retaining business.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.
Desirable
- Cert CII or working towards qualifications.
- Experience managing mid-market or corporate construction clients.
- Established relationships with relevant insurers and MGAs.
