Job Description

Overview

This role involves working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors to support the development and growth of a commercial QS function. Due to continued expansion and newly secured long-term projects, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the full commercial management of multiple live projects, working closely with the Contract Team.

Strong communication with internal teams, clients, design consultants, and the wider supply chain is essential. Ongoing professional development through relevant training, courses, and seminars is actively encouraged.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Management

  • Oversee commercial performance across multiple live projects
  • Work collaboratively with Contract Managers and project teams

Valuations

  • Prepare and issue monthly valuations
  • Maintain valuation spreadsheets
  • Save and manage assessment and payment notices
  • Liaise with internal managers and stakeholders

Variations & Change Control

  • Set up and maintain variation registers for each project
  • Assist in the preparation and management of variations
  • Manage change control processes with the wider team
  • Respond to client and main contractor queries

Contracts & Notifications

  • Maintain up-to-date notification registers (JCT / NEC)
  • Issue contractual notifications as required
  • Receive internal training and guidance on processes

Subcontractor Management

  • Assist in preparing subcontractor orders
  • Engage with the supply chain to gather required documentation
  • Support issuing of orders to subcontractors

Site Engagement

  • Conduct site visits alongside Contract Managers
  • Review valuations and variations on-site

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparing monthly contract reports
  • Collate and analyse sales and cost data for reporting purposes

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing)
  • Knowledge of building services
  • Understanding of contract frameworks and procedures
