Are you a detail-oriented numbers person with a passion for the social housing sector? We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Slough. This isn't just about spreadsheets; it's about helping us maintain and improve homes within the community.
If you understand the nuances of the National Housing Federation (NHF) Schedule of Rates and have a background in social housing maintenance or development, we want to hear from you.
Working closely with the Senior Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial aspects of our social housing contracts. You'll ensure value for money while maintaining the high standards our residents expect.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Assist in the preparation of tenders, estimations, and final accounts.
SOR Management: Apply and manage the NHF Schedule of Rates for reactive maintenance and planned works.
Subcontractor Liaison: Manage payments, variations, and performance reviews for our supply chain.
Site Visits: Conduct regular on-site measurements and valuations across our Slough-based portfolio.
Reporting: Help produce monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) to keep projects on budget.
We aren't just looking for technical skill; we're looking for someone who "gets" the social housing environment.
Experience: Proven background in Social Housing (Planned or Reactive Maintenance).
Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the National Housing Federation (NHF) versions and frameworks.
Education: A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or currently working towards one).
Local Knowledge: Based in or within easy commuting distance of Slough.
Soft Skills: A sharp eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to explain complex costs to non-technical stakeholders.
Stability: A permanent role in a sector that remains resilient and essential.
Growth: Clear pathways to move from Assistant to Surveyor level with mentored support.
Impact: Your work directly affects the quality of life for residents in the Slough area.
