Role Overview
The Senior M&E Contracts Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of M&E projects from pre-construction through to handover with knowledge and understanding of mechanical projects. The role focuses on programme management, financial control, quality assurance, client liaison and workforce leadership to ensure profitable and compliant project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction & Planning
Prepare project programmes, sequencing plans and logistics strategies.
Develop procurement schedules and support purchasing/financial planning.
Engage early with supply chain and establish labour/resource strategies.
Attend design meetings and contract reviews; identify potential variations.
Produce operational, quality and health & safety plans.
Project Delivery
Monitor progress against programme and implement delay-recovery actions.
Lead procurement of materials and subcontractors in line with company procedures.
Maintain accurate financial tracking, cashflows, orders and reporting.
Review invoices, labour reports and expenses; prepare variations and final accounts.
Manage commissioning, handover documentation and O&M manuals.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as main client contact throughout project lifecycle.
Provide consistent updates on progress, costs and changes.
Obtain agreement to variations and extensions of time.
Represent the company at meetings and support marketing/testimonial efforts.
Operations & Workforce Management
Lead site teams, set consistent operational standards and ensure efficiency.
Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors; review performance.
Mentor junior Contract Managers and support team development.
Ensure compliance with recruitment, induction and workforce legislation.
Quality, Compliance & Health & Safety
Monitor installation quality, minimise snagging and secure client sign-off.
Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, MCS and industry standards.
Maintain accurate RAMS, monitor site safety and attend internal H&S meetings.
Support training needs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
NVQ Level 3 minimum (Level 6 preferred) or equivalent electrical qualification.
Approved Electrician status and SMSTS
Mechanical Status
Strong track record managing M&E/electrical projects to completion.
Commercially astute with experience in cost control and final accounts.
Skilled in client liaison, team leadership and subcontractor management.
Strong understanding of electrical installations, RAMS and H&S legislation.
Full UK driving licence.
