Company Overview

Our client is a principal main contractor with a strong reputation in delivering high-end fit out projects across the office and luxury retail sectors. Known for their quality-first approach and collaborative ethos, they have built long-term relationships with premium clients and designers. With a growing project pipeline and a lean, tight-knit team, they are now looking to expand by hiring an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in delivering projects from concept to completion.

Role Overview

This is a dual Estimator/Quantity Surveyor role with a bias towards Estimating. The successful candidate will be responsible for pricing, winning, and then delivering larger-format fit out projects ranging from £250k to £7 million. Projects will span Luxury Retail, CAT A, and CAT B Office Fit Outs, predominantly located across Birmingham and the South of England.

Working from the company's Kent-based office, you'll join a team of 15 professionals (including PMs and QSs) and collaborate closely with both site teams and senior management. With 1-2 site visits per week, this is a role suited to a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, design-led environment and can manage a project lifecycle independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating function on fit out projects from initial enquiry through to submission.

  • Prepare detailed cost plans, tender submissions and bills of quantities.

  • Collaborate with the project and design teams to provide commercial input during pre-construction.

  • Source and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Post-contract duties including valuations, cost reporting, variations, and final accounts.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring budgets are controlled and deadlines met.

  • Attend client meetings and 1-2 weekly site visits as required.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in both estimating and surveying roles within the fit out sector.

  • Track record in CAT A & CAT B Office Fit Outs, with additional experience in Luxury Retail highly desirable.

  • Comfortable running projects from pricing to final account independently.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to win work and build client relationships.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - must be a strong personality and cultural fit for a lean, collaborative team.

  • Ability to commute to the Kent office full-time and travel for site visits (Birmingham and below).

  • Right to work in the UK.

Package

  • Competitive salary up to £65,000 (DOE)

  • Company pension

  • Career progression in a growing business

  • High-quality, design-focused project portfolio

Why Join?

  • Role created due to expansion - no one has left the company

  • Work on premium, design-led projects

  • Flat, supportive team structure

  • Excellent opportunity to take ownership and grow with the business
