Pipe Fitters Mate

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Handling:

   • Load/unload construction materials (e.g., steel, piping, insulation).

   • Operate machinery (e.g., forklifts, telehandlers) to transport materials to designated areas.

   • Assist with waste conveyor system assembly and boiler installation.

2. Site Preparation:

   • Excavate trenches, prepare foundations, and assist with scaffolding erection.

   • Support groundworks teams in setting up drainage and utility lines.

3. Waste Processing Support:

   • Assist with installing incinerator components (e.g., refractory linings, ash handling systems).

   • Follow protocols for handling hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos-containing waste, chemicals).

4. Safety Compliance:

   • Adhere to CDM 2015, COSHH, and LOLER regulations.

   • Use PPE (respirators, flame-resistant clothing, safety boots) and attend daily toolbox talks.

   • Report hazards (e.g., gas leaks, unstable structures) to supervisors.

5. Equipment Operation:

   • Operate power tools (e.g., grinders, drills) and plant machinery (if certified).

   • Assist with crane lifts as a slinger/signaller (if trained).

6. Quality Control:

   • Inspect materials for defects and ensure compliance with specifications.

   • Support QA/QC teams during inspections and snagging.

7. Housekeeping:

   • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area (e.g., debris removal, spill containment).
