Area Planning Service Manager

Overview of the role:

To manage and lead professional teams responsible for the day-to-day delivery of development management functions and to support the effective management of the Area Planning Team (North) and planning enforcement functions

Responsibilities and Duties

Lead and manage the Area Planning Team (North), including planning enforcement, ensuring high performance, effective communication, and consistent application of HR policies.

Oversee operational delivery of all planning applications, appeals, and enforcement matters, ensuring compliance with KPIs, legislation, and council procedures.

Build strong relationships with residents, members, stakeholders, and partners to deliver a customer-focused planning service and represent Development Management at committees and public inquiries.

Monitor performance and budgets, driving continuous improvement, innovation, and compliance with financial and corporate governance standards.

Support strategic service development, including workforce planning, service reviews, and implementation of new processes aligned with council priorities and legislative changes.
