Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Building Surveyor to join us to provide a specialist technical support service for Stockport Homes, working closely with range of stakeholders including in-house contractors, partner contractors, subcontractors and tenants/customers, to deliver a wide range of repairs services. Conducting in depth surveys utilising specialist equipment to assist in diagnosis of disrepair issues and any minor structural defects, you must carry out ‘joint surveys” with expert witnesses to agree remedial works (for Scott Schedules), whilst preparing schedules of work and prioritising the work as required. Obtaining accurate and detailed information about necessary repairs/improvements to properties you will undertake a range of surveys, i.e., HHSRS, Legionella and Asbestos, whilst observing working practices onsite, ensuring appropriate action is taken where unsafe practices are taking place. Candidates for this role must hold a recognised building related qualification (HNC or equivalent minimum), have a trade background and experience of working in a social housing environment. Experience and knowledge of Disrepair protocol resolving claims is essential and you must have a comprehensive understanding of Legionella management, the L8 ACOP and the application of the HHSRS legislation. With a comprehensive understanding of dampness and condensation related defects and resolutions, you will have experience of dealing with building contractors and knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements including Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at work and the Party wall act.
