Mechanical Design Manager - Permanent - Birmingham - circa £50,000 salary AndersElite are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Manager based in the Birmingham area. This is a permanent role available from July / August 2020 and would suit an experienced building services professional, mechanically biased, ideally holding a HNC or HND Building Services Engineering, with a strong background working for contractors as well as consultancies. Our client are a well established mechanical, air conditioning and electrical installation contractor who generally work for main contractor's and end users on multi-disciplined turnkey projects within the building services sector, typically in the commercial, education and retail fields. The selected candidate for the Mechanical Design Manager will be responsible for the design, tendering and cost control of multimillion pounds mechanical and electrical projects. They will lead a design team overlooking the entire process of the individual projects from the concept stage, through the design development and value engineering options. The Mechanical design manager will also be responsible for the production of Revit/CAD drawings, technical submissions, final delivery quality control. An essential part of the role in involves liaising with clients, consultants, architects, suppliers and sub-contractors, so good communication skills are essential. It is expected that the suitable candidate will have significant expertise in HVAC systems, Controls, DX splits, Public Health services, VRV, Chilled water systems, heat recovery ventilation, fan coils, fire suppression, close control cooling and air supply and extract, amongst other areas. In order to apply for this role you should have relevant industry experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or Design Manager, with a good working knowledge of Autocad and Revit technologies. You should have design skills in heat load calculations and ventilation. Salary offered is circa £48,000-£50,000 per annum although this is negotiable depending on experience and could be increased for the right candidate. In addition to basic salary our client offers a company car, laptop, mobile phone, pension scheme and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced, multi-disciplined Mobile Authorised Person with a Mechanical Bias to join a major FM company operating within the MoD environment in the Kent area. You will be required to ensure the requirements of JSP375 are complied with in all activities undertaken on the establishments within your area of responsibility. Technical Responsibilities § Accept responsibility for the practical implementation and operation of JSP375 to support the effective and timely delivery of Additional Works, planned and response maintenance § Ensure as far as reasonably practical that all persons within the Service Delivery Area observe the requirements of JSP375 § Assess the competence of Skilled Persons for appointment to ensure suitably qualified and experienced operatives are directed to relevant tasks and review experience and performance regularly § Produce high quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements and, where required, issue safety programmes and Permits to Work § Provide professional and technical support and advice to CarillionAmey site team, Supply Chain, DIO and end users § Record all tasks against the appropriate assets in the WorkManager system and ensure all documentation relating to jobs is completed, recorded and distributed in a timely manner § Manage project work as directed by Management and confer with the Additional Works team to ensure that all works are completed to the required standards § Review site risk registers, follow maintenance and management processes, notify Management of any defects on equipment or systems and attained and contribute to risk meetings as required § Reduce the number of corrective actions (CARs) raised and close existing CARs within agreed timescales § Liaise closely with Authorising Engineers and take ownership of personal training plan, familiarisation and knowledge across all sites within the Service Delivery Area, maintain accurate records within personal log book for site attendance and activities undertaken § Identify opportunities on establishments that will support the MoD's carbon reduction targets Essential requirements * Significant practical experience of Safe Systems of Work including: o Management of the Operational Delivery of JSP375 o Ability to solve problems and make decisions o Ability to work on own initiative * Demonstrable experience of working in collaborative environment. * Experience of supervising site operations, including: o Managing staff in the appropriate disciplines o Planning, directing and controlling activities o Management of resources to achieve results o Agreeing scope and priorities of work * HND level qualification in an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience * Technical qualifications & training as required by JSP 375, including: o Emergency first aid o Fire safety * Management level qualification in H&S and Environment (e.g. SMSTS) * Continuing Professional Development Desirable Requirements * Significant practical management in Safe Systems of Work including: o Experience of operating in an MOD environment o Working knowledge of CDM regulations o Experience of the Asbestos at Work Act, * DDA, energy performance, Sustainability etc. * NEC3 contract requirements * Familiarity with geography and establishments within area of responsibility If your CV clearly shows the above then apply now!
