Multi-Trade Operative - Complex Repairs Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding areas Salary: (phone number removed) per annum Hours: 39 hours per week Benefits: Company van provided 23 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays 3 concessionary days Ongoing training and development opportunities Sellick Partnership Ltd are looking for an experienced Multi-Trade Operative to join a well-established housing association, delivering high-quality complex repairs across residential properties in Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled tradesperson with experience across multiple disciplines who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering a first-class service. You'll play a key role in diagnosing and resolving complex property issues, helping to provide customers with safe, healthy and well-maintained homes. The Role Working across occupied and void residential properties, you'll be responsible for investigating, diagnosing and resolving a wide range of complex building defects, with a particular focus on damp, mould, condensation and structural repairs. Your responsibilities will include: Diagnosing the root cause of damp, mould, condensation and building fabric issues. Carrying out complex multi-trade repairs to a high standard. Completing planned works including kitchens, bathrooms and structural reinstatement where required. Undertaking carpentry, joinery, plastering, rendering, brickwork, basic plumbing and general building maintenance. Carrying out external repairs, drainage improvements, insulation works and ventilation improvements. Ordering materials and managing repairs from diagnosis through to completion. Maintaining accurate records using handheld IT equipment. Working alongside surveyors and technical teams where specialist input is required. Ensuring all work complies with current health and safety legislation and housing standards. Leaving every property clean, safe and ready for customers. About You To be successful in this role, you'll have: An NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) trade qualification in Joinery, Brickwork, Plastering or another relevant trade (essential). NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade (desirable). A minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in building maintenance, including a broad range of trades such as joinery, plastering, tiling, basic plumbing, decorating, external works and groundworks. Proven experience working within the social housing sector. Demonstrable experience identifying the root cause of damp, mould and condensation issues, applying appropriate treatment solutions and completing effective long-term repairs. Strong multi-trade skills with the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship across a variety of repair types. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Good IT skills and experience using handheld devices to manage work and complete records. A full UK driving licence. The following qualifications or training would be advantageous: Level 3 qualification in Damp, Mould and Condensation in Buildings. Health and Safety qualification or relevant training.
