Ivy Resource Group are working with a well-established contractor to recruit an experienced Estimator for a permanent role based in Gloucester. You will be working on a range of education, healthcare, commercial property, residential housing and private clients, with projects ranging from a few hundred pounds to around 25 million. The Role: Review tender documents - study drawings, specifications, schedules and other project information. Measure quantities - calculate the amount of labour, materials and work required for each part of the project. Prepare cost estimates - price materials, labour, plant, subcontractors and other project costs. Obtain subcontractor quotations - contact specialist subcontractors and suppliers and compare their prices. Analyse project risks - identify uncertainties, potential extra costs and commercial risks. Build the tender price - bring all costs together to produce the overall price submitted to the client. Work with the wider team - collaborate with quantity surveyors, contracts managers, buyers, architects and engineers. Check and compare prices - make sure quotations and calculations are accurate and competitive. Attend site visits - understand site conditions, access, logistics and any issues that could affect the price. Meet tender deadlines - make sure estimates and supporting information are completed and submitted on time. Support negotiations - help answer client queries and clarify pricing during the tender process. Learn from previous projects - use historical costs and project data to improve future estimates. Help protect profit margins - make sure the project is priced competitively without underestimating the true cost The Ideal Candidate: Construction knowledge - understands how buildings are constructed and the different trades involved.
