Contracts Manager

We are working with a well-established construction contractor based in Oxfordshire, who is looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join their Special Projects division.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established, close-knit team delivering a diverse portfolio of construction projects across a range of sectors. Projects vary in size from smaller works valued at 5,000 through to larger schemes approaching 4 million, offering genuine variety and the opportunity to manage projects in often complex and challenging environments.

The division undertakes a wide range of work, including fast-track refurbishments, listed heritage restorations, science and technology laboratories, healthcare facilities, colleges, places of worship and private residential properties. Many projects require careful planning, close coordination and a considered approach to working within occupied buildings and live environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing project delivery, working closely with clients, site teams, subcontractors and senior management to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing multiple construction projects from initial planning through to completion.

• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.

• Monitoring project programmes, progress and resource requirements.

• Managing project costs, budgets and commercial performance.

• Ensuring all works comply with health and safety requirements, specifications and quality standards.

• Maintaining strong relationships with clients and ensuring expectations are met throughout delivery.

• Identifying and managing project risks, resolving issues and keeping works on programme.

• Ensuring effective communication and coordination across live and often complex working environments.

• Working closely with senior management to support the successful delivery of the wider Special Projects division.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in a Contracts Manager role within the construction industry.

• A strong understanding of construction project delivery, contract management and site operations.

• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ideally within refurbishment, fit-out or specialist works.

• The ability to coordinate teams and subcontractors while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

• Strong commercial awareness, including cost control and programme management.

• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

• A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to projects of varying sizes and complexity.
