Full time Construction Quantity Surveyor Project Manager Management

Job Description

About you

If you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys managing the commercial side of construction projects and wants a role with genuine responsibility, this could be a really good opportunity.

You will be joining an established construction business, working from their Central London office in the SE1 area.

You will be responsible for the commercial management of allocated projects, working closely with the operational teams to make sure costs, margins and contractual matters are properly controlled.

This is a position where you will have ownership of your projects rather than simply supporting somebody else with valuations and reporting.

You will need to be confident managing your own workload, dealing with subcontractors and clients and making commercially sensible decisions.

The salary is £65,000 to £70,000 per annum.

Your experience

You will need previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, with a strong understanding of commercial management and project delivery.

You should be comfortable managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, forecasting, cost reporting and final accounts.

Experience producing CVRs and Cost to Complete reports will be important, along with the ability to monitor project cash flow and understand how costs are affecting profitability.

You will need a good understanding of construction contracts, measurement and the commercial risks that can arise during project delivery.

You should also be confident communicating with clients, subcontractors and operational teams, particularly when negotiating variations or dealing with commercial issues.

A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial subject would be preferred, with CIOB or RICS accreditation considered an advantage.

What you will be doing with your experience

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of allocated construction projects, ensuring costs are controlled and projects remain financially on track.

You will manage procurement schedules, appoint subcontractors, negotiate packages and place orders for materials and plant.

You will also manage valuations, variations and payments, making sure the financial position of each project is accurately recorded and reported.

Producing CVRs, Cost to Complete reports and financial forecasts will be an important part of the role, giving senior management a clear understanding of project performance.

You will work closely with Project Managers and operational teams to identify commercial risks, resolve issues and protect project margins.

You will also be responsible for maintaining good relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring commercial discussions are handled professionally.

Where required, you will support junior members of the commercial team and contribute to maintaining good commercial standards across the business.

About the business

You will be joining an established construction business with a Central London office and an experienced commercial management team.

They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can bring strong commercial experience, take responsibility for allocated projects and work closely with the wider team.

You will have involvement across the full commercial lifecycle, from procurement and valuations through to cost reporting and project completion.

If you are an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a role in Central London where you can take ownership of your projects and have a genuine influence on commercial performance, this could be worth a conversation.

The salary is £65,000 to £70,000 per annum.
