Full time Construction Architect and Design

Job Description

Job Title: Architectural Technologist (Intermediate or Senior)
Salary: 32,500 - 40,000
Location: Bradford (Hybrid working on offer)

A well-established, multi-award-winning architectural practice is looking for an Architectural Technologist to join its friendly, fast-moving team. With 25 years behind it, the practice is RIBA Chartered and a corporate member of CIAT. It is busy, growing and taking on projects across the UK.

The practice
The practice is best known for transport design, particularly zero-emission bus depots, covering both new-build facilities and the conversion of existing sites for electric and hydrogen fleets. It also works in education, commercial and residential. Recent projects include multi-million-pound depot schemes, and the team is carbon-neutral certified and committed to sustainable design. It is a collaborative studio where people see projects through from first sketch to completion.

The role
You'll take projects from concept through to completion, working independently and as part of a close team. Depending on your level, you will:

  • Develop designs into detailed technical packages, including Stage 4 information, construction details and specifications
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors and clients, and respond to site queries
  • Check drawings and information for compliance with Building Regulations and project requirements
  • Support and guide junior colleagues
  • As the practice grows, take on more responsibility, including leading a small team (a real prospect for senior candidates)

About you

  • MCIAT, or working towards chartership (or equivalent qualification and experience, such as a degree or HNC/HND in Architectural Technology)
  • Proven experience as an Architectural Technologist in a design practice (typically 3+ years for intermediate level; senior candidates will bring significant experience delivering projects through the technical stages)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing
  • Confident with CAD, ideally Archicad (although can provide training), and comfortable with standard office software
  • Flexible and adaptable, happy to switch between self-led work and team projects
