Full-time, permanent PAYE or long-term subcontract opportunity

Rise10 Recruitment is working with a fast-growing and ambitious electrical contracting business to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join their expanding team.

Our client delivers high-quality commercial, industrial and high-end residential electrical projects across the region. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role, combining office-based commercial management with time on site, and wants to make a real impact within a growing SME.

You'll take ownership of projects from handover through to final account, overseeing multiple installations valued between 50,000 and 500,000+, with the opportunity to influence project delivery, profitability and the future growth of the business.

The Role

You'll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Working closely with site teams, clients, contractors and suppliers, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of projects while keeping a close eye on programme, costs and commercial performance.

The majority of projects are within a 50-mile radius of Northampton, although some travel further afield will be required.

Project & Site Management

  • Manage multiple electrical installation projects from handover through to completion and final account.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes using Gantt charts or MS Project.
  • Coordinate site supervisors, electricians, apprentices and specialist subcontractors.
  • Plan procurement and material deliveries to keep projects on schedule.
  • Monitor progress, resolve issues and ensure projects meet deadlines and quality expectations.

Commercial Management

  • Take ownership of project budgets, forecasts, valuations and cash flow.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to maximise profitability.
  • Price and negotiate variations and manage final account negotiations.
  • Review and approve subcontractor payments.
  • Work closely with estimating and accounts to maintain commercial control.

Client & Stakeholder Relationships

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, consultants and design teams.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide clear updates on project performance.
  • Build strong working relationships that encourage repeat business.
  • Resolve technical and commercial challenges in a professional and practical way.

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and BS7671 requirements.
  • Prepare, review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Carry out site inspections and safety audits.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and promote a positive safety culture.

About You

We're looking for an experienced electrical contracting professional who can confidently manage projects, people and commercial responsibilities. You'll be organised, commercially aware and comfortable getting involved at every stage, from reviewing costs in the office to supporting site teams with practical challenges.

You'll ideally have:

At least five years' experience managing electrical installation projects.

A background in the electrical contracting industry.

An electrical qualification or hands-on electrical installation background, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2391 or an Electrical Engineering qualification.

A strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts.

Good commercial awareness and experience managing project finances.
