Contract Construction

Job Description

Quantity Surveyor - Heathrow
Long-term contract
450 - 535 Day Rate

About the Role
We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor on a long-term contract at Heathrow. The major projects have already been won, so you'll be managing the commercial side of a portfolio of smaller packages, including EV charging stations, facades, HVAC, demolition and more.

The Opportunity
You'll be the commercial point of contact for design, engineering, planning and project controls teams, making sure changes are properly justified, priced and agreed in line with contractual entitlements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial assessment of design and scope changes across your projects
  • Work with engineers and designers to identify changes and risks early
  • Prepare and manage change submissions, compensation events, instructions and variations
  • Advise on contractual entitlement and protect commercial recovery under NEC
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders through to final account settlement
  • Challenge scope growth and present cost impacts and option appraisals to support decisions

Key Requirements

  • Significant experience as a QS or in change management on major infrastructure or complex projects
  • Civils and/or M&E experience
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly compensation events
  • Ability to interpret designs, scope documents and technical reports
  • Confident negotiator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Desirable: Heathrow, airport or major infrastructure experience, and MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent

If you're a commercially astute QS who is comfortable in technical environments and understands how design drives cost and programme, we'd love to hear from you.
