Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Construction Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of construction projects from inception through to completion, with particular emphasis on RIBA Stages 4-6. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, a thorough understanding of contract administration using both JCT and NEC forms of contract, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing major residential refurbishment and recladding projects, along with significant experience delivering projects within the education sector. Experience overseeing full building fit-out projects from pre-construction through to handover is essential.

As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will provide professional project management services in accordance with the standards and guidance of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and other relevant professional bodies. You will also play an active role in supporting the development of the wider project management team and contributing to the ongoing growth and improvement of the business.

Qualifications

Degree qualified in Construction, Property, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Chartered status (MRICS or FRICS) preferred.

Demonstrable experience in construction project management, including leadership of complex, multi-million-pound projects.

Proven experience delivering major residential refurbishment and recladding schemes.

Experience managing projects within the education sector, including schools, colleges, or higher education facilities.

Extensive experience delivering full fit-out projects, including CAT A, CAT B, and occupied environment refurbishments where applicable.

Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement routes, project controls, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

Provide project management services in accordance with the requirements and guidance of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and other recognised professional bodies.

Lead and manage construction projects through all project stages, ensuring successful delivery against agreed objectives.

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Manage project programmes, budgets, risks, procurement processes, and reporting requirements.

Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, industry standards, and best practice.

Lead refurbishment, recladding, education, and fit-out projects through construction and delivery phases, ensuring successful outcomes for clients and stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Development

Assist in overseeing and managing Project Managers and Trainee Project Managers.

Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical support to junior team members.

Support the professional development of colleagues and contribute to maintaining high standards across the project management team.

Foster a collaborative and positive working environment.

Support the ongoing development and improvement of the company's systems, processes, and working practices.

Contribute positively to initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

Assist directors and senior management in the continued growth and development of the practice.

Maintain a high level of competency across relevant IT platforms and project management software.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Maintain professional knowledge and fulfil ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) obligations in accordance with RICS requirements.

Remain current with industry developments, legislation, market trends, and best practice.

Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale residential refurbishment and recladding projects, including stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and programme control.

Strong understanding of building safety considerations, regulatory requirements, and procurement routes associated with refurbishment and recladding schemes.

Experience delivering new-build and refurbishment projects within the education sector, including live environment considerations and stakeholder engagement.

Proven ability to successfully manage complex fit-out projects through all stages, from design development and procurement through to commissioning and handover.

Essential Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates should be able to demonstrate:

Significant experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within the construction sector.

Delivery of major residential refurbishment projects, including external envelope and recladding works.

Experience managing projects within the education sector, including schools, colleges, universities, or other educational facilities.

Proven track record of delivering full fit-out projects from inception through to completion.

Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.

Experience managing stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, programme, and commercial control.
