Are you an experienced, precision-driven Utility Surveyor looking to step into a senior technical leadership role within an expanding land and geospatial consultancy?
A leading specialist surveying consultancy is expanding its operations and seeking a Senior Utility Surveyor to lead regional project delivery in South East England.
In this senior role, you will take ownership of complex subsurface mapping schemes, oversee on-site methodologies, mentor junior surveyors, and ensure seamless integration of utility data with wider topographical deliverables.
The Opportunity: You will lead the execution of comprehensive underground utility mapping projects strictly adhering to PAS 128 (Quality Levels QL-D through QL-A). Your day-to-day remit involves:
- Leading complex subsurface investigations utilising multi-channel Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Location (EML) equipment on major infrastructure, commercial, and residential assets.
- Overseeing and executing advanced post-processing of GPR and EML data, coordinating closely with CAD and topographical teams to deliver complete, accurate utility models.
- Conducting advanced site reconnaissance, complex utility mark-outs, methodology planning, and robust site-specific risk assessments (RAMS).
- Mentoring and supervising junior surveyors and assistants on-site, providing quality assurance and technical guidance.
- Acting as a technical point of contact on-site for clients and contractors, ensuring projects meet rigorous safety standards and client specifications.
The Package:- Up to 45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + fully expensed company vehicle / van allowance.

Technical Essentials: To be successful in this senior role, you must demonstrate proven technical authority and independent project execution:
- Experience: Extensive proven field track record executing and delivering utility mapping projects across highways, rail, commercial, or major infrastructure environments.
- Compliance & Standards: Comprehensive knowledge of PAS 128 specifications and reporting standards.
- Hardware & Software: Advanced proficiency with electromagnetic locating equipment (e.g., Radiodetection RD8100/RD8200) and GPR systems (e.g., Leica, IDS, Mala), alongside data post-processing software.
- Qualifications: Valid CSCS Card and a clean, full UK Driving Licence (mandatory). ProQual Level 3 or Level 5 in Utility Mapping and Surveying is strongly advantageous.
- Leadership: Demonstrable ability to supervise site teams, audit survey data, and ensure QA compliance.
