Team Leader / Ganger / Foreman

Job Purpose

To lead and coordinate a small team of operatives on site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality and programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of construction operatives.
• Allocate daily tasks and organise the workforce effectively.
• Ensure work is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping on site.
• Carry out site briefings and toolbox talks where required.
• Check that workers have the correct tools, equipment and materials.
• Monitor progress and report any delays, issues or changes to the Site Supervisor.
• Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors and site teams.
• Identify and report hazards, defects or unsafe working practices.
• Assist with setting out and general construction activities where required.
• Ensure materials and equipment are used correctly and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records and complete relevant site documentation.
• Support the Site Supervisor/Manager in achieving programme and quality requirements.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Ganger, Chargehand or experienced construction operative.
• Good knowledge of construction site practices.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and site instructions.
• CSCS card appropriate to the role.
• Relevant site experience.
