M&E Manager

M&E Manager (Contract) Location: Bedford

Are you an experienced M&E Manager looking for your next contract? Our client, a leading Principal Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major construction projects across the UK, is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Manager to join the team on a large-scale project in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the mechanical and electrical services, overseeing both the design and delivery of the M&E package through to completion.

The Role

As M&E Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical and electrical elements of the project from design development through to installation, commissioning and handover. Working alongside the Project Manager, Design Team and wider delivery team, you will coordinate M&E subcontractors, manage technical and design queries and ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, coordination and delivery of all mechanical and electrical services.
• Manage and coordinate specialist M&E subcontractors throughout the project.
• Review M&E drawings, specifications, technical submissions and design information.
• Work closely with the design team and consultants to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure M&E services are fully coordinated with the architectural, structural and wider construction programme.
• Monitor M&E installation works to ensure they are completed safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
• Lead and attend M&E design, progress and coordination meetings.
• Monitor programme progress and proactively identify and resolve potential risks or delays.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and handover of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain strong communication with the client, subcontractors, consultants and wider project team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an M&E Manager, Building Services Manager or similar role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge with experience overseeing both design and delivery.
• Previous experience working for a Principal Contractor or Main Contractor is highly desirable.
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of M&E design coordination, installation, commissioning and handover.
• Ability to effectively manage M&E subcontractors and coordinate with the wider project team.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.
• Valid CSCS Card.
• Relevant mechanical, electrical or building services qualifications would be advantageous.
