Senior Project Manager (Mechnical Bias) - Leading Engineering Contractor - Reading - up to 120,000 + package - SC CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Our client is one of the UK's leading Engineering & Services companies with a turnover approaching 450 million. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the Mechanical packages on this scheme totalling circa 20 million in value.
This particular scheme is a major secure MOD/defence refurbishment project involving the transformation and upgrade of an existing building to provide modern office/workplace accommodation. The scheme incorporates a significant building-services upgrade, with our client delivering the M&E package. Works are understood to include the refurbishment/replacement of existing mechanical and electrical infrastructure alongside the new office fit-out, within a highly controlled and security-sensitive environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical works from pre-construction/design coordination through installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring programme, quality and commercial objectives are achieved.
- Manage and coordinate major mechanical services including HVAC, heating and cooling, ventilation, pipework, domestic water, drainage and associated plant/equipment.
- Work closely with the electrical team, design consultants and construction management to ensure fully coordinated M&E installations within the constraints of an existing building.
- Manage specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners, monitoring performance, productivity, quality, programme and health & safety compliance.
- Review mechanical designs, technical submissions, drawings, specifications and builders' work requirements, identifying design clashes, constructability issues and opportunities for value engineering.
- Maintain responsibility for the mechanical programme, identifying critical-path activities and implementing recovery plans where required to maintain key project milestones.
- Liaise closely with the client, main contractor, consultants and internal project team, chairing progress and coordination meetings and providing clear reporting on programme, cost, risk and delivery.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, witnessing and integration of mechanical systems, ensuring all installations meet the required technical, regulatory and project-specific standards.
- Drive the project through completion, including snagging, commissioning documentation, O&M information, client demonstrations and handover, while maintaining the standards required within a security-sensitive environment.
Package includes:
- Negotiable basic salary up to 120,000
