New Resource Recruitment are delighted to be representing a well-established and highly respected organisation within the quarrying and aggregates sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Quarry Manager to take the lead at their Berkshire operation.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Relocation assistance: Available, subject to HMRC guidance

THE ROLE

As Quarry Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the quarry, ensuring production, quality, customer and commercial targets are achieved.

You will be a visible leader on site, responsible for driving a strong safety culture, developing your team and continuously improving operational performance.

The role will see you oversee:

Quarry extraction, processing, stock management and despatch

Production, quality and customer requirements

Site budgets, costs and operational forecasts

Fixed and mobile plant performance and maintenance

Health, safety and environmental compliance

Contractors, site personnel and operational standards

Environmental monitoring, restoration and planning commitments

Performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives

Recruitment, coaching, training and development of your site team

You will also act as the appointed Quarry Manager under Regulation 8(1)(c) of the Quarries Regulations 1999, ensuring the operation remains fully compliant with all relevant legislation, permits, licences and company standards.

THIS IS A LEADERSHIP ROLE

We're looking for someone who can take ownership, make decisions and lead from the front.

You'll need to be commercially aware and comfortable managing budgets and costs, while never compromising on safety, compliance or quality.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can bring people with you, creating a positive, accountable and high-performing site culture.

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR?

You'll ideally have:

Proven management/leadership experience within quarrying, aggregates, mining or another extractive industry

A degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Quarry Management, Mining Engineering, Geology or a related discipline

Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to quarrying

Experience managing budgets, costs and operational performance

Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills

The confidence to lead teams, contractors and site operations

A strong understanding of operational excellence and continuous improvement

Desirable: NVQ Level 4/5 in Health, Safety & Environmental Management.
