Contracts Manager HS2 12-Month Contract
Project: HS2
Location: Aylesbury / Buckinghamshire
Duration: 12 months
Contract: Freelance / CIS / Ltd
Rate: £450 per day

We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join a major HS2 infrastructure project on an initial 12-month contract.
IMPORTANT MANDATORY REQUIREMENT

Key Responsibilities
  • Take overall responsibility for the successful commercial and operational delivery of allocated contracts and work packages.
  • Manage contracts from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
  • Lead and manage Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and wider delivery teams.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
  • Manage subcontractor performance and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor project progress, costs, resources and programme performance.
  • Manage variations, change control, compensation events and contractual notifications.
  • Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Project Management, Engineering, Planning and SHEQ teams.
  • Lead progress, commercial and coordination meetings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the client, principal contractor, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with approved RAMS, ITPs, quality requirements and HS2/EKFB standards.
  • Monitor subcontractor programmes and delivery against agreed milestones.
  • Assist with forecasting, cost control and monthly reporting.
  • Identify potential delays, disputes and contractual issues and implement mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate records to support commercial and contractual positions.
  • Drive high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
  • Support completion, testing, commissioning and handover where required.
Essential Requirements
  • Valid EKFB induction
  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within major civil engineering/infrastructure projects.
  • Previous HS2 / EKFB / Tier 1 contractor experience highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and contractual processes.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work packages.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Experience managing variations, compensation events and contractual risk.
  • Proven ability to manage programmes, budgets and project delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Relevant construction/civil engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
