Estimator - Dry Lining or Joinery
Location: Blackfriars, Central London
Salary: Up to £70,000 + package
Working: Flexible working available after probation

The Opportunity
A progressive dry lining and joinery subcontractor is looking for an experienced Estimator to join its growing commercial team in Blackfriars.

This position would suit someone with approximately three to eight years' estimating experience within dry lining, joinery or a closely related interiors package. You will be trusted to manage your own tenders while receiving the support and development needed to progress towards Senior Estimator level.

You do not need experience across both dry lining and joinery. A strong background in either specialism will be considered.

The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Completing accurate labour and material take-offs.
• Preparing detailed cost estimates for dry lining or joinery packages.
• Managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Preparing bills of quantities, tender breakdowns and pricing schedules.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and exclusions.
• Producing competitive tender submissions.
• Attending site visits, tender interviews and clarification meetings.
• Suggesting value-engineering and alternative construction solutions.
• Building relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Supporting tender handovers to the commercial and operational teams.
• Monitoring market rates and maintaining accurate pricing information.

You will be joining an established and forward-thinking specialist subcontractor delivering dry lining and joinery packages across London and the surrounding areas.

The company operates from newly refurbished offices in Blackfriars and provides a modern, collaborative working environment. Continued growth has created a clear opportunity for an ambitious Estimator to take on greater responsibility and develop towards a senior position.

What They're Looking For

• Approximately three to eight years' estimating experience.
• A strong background in either dry lining or joinery.
• Experience working for a specialist subcontractor.
• The ability to manage tenders independently from enquiry to submission.
• Strong knowledge of take-offs, tendering, pricing and procurement.
• Confidence interpreting drawings, specifications and bills of quantities.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience using relevant estimating or take-off software would be beneficial.
• A construction-related qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
• The ambition to develop into a Senior Estimator role.
