Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative

Swindon & Surrounding Areas Up to 40,660 + Van, Fuel Card & Excellent Benefits

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative to join a well-established and highly regarded property services contractor delivering repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and compliance services to housing providers and public sector organisations.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business on a long-term social housing contract covering Swindon and the surrounding areas, where you'll play a key role in ensuring residents' homes remain safe, comfortable and well maintained.

The Opportunity

This role is ideally suited to a qualified plumber with strong multi-trade experience who enjoys a varied and customer-facing position. While plumbing will be your core trade, you'll also support a wide range of maintenance and repair works including carpentry, tiling, plastering and decorating.

Working within occupied residential properties, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, first-time fixes and professional workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out a variety of plumbing repairs and installations, including:
    • Leak detection and repairs
    • Hot and cold water system repairs
    • Immersion heaters and tanks
    • Bathroom and kitchen installations
  • Complete multi-trade repairs including:
    • Wall and floor tiling
    • First and second fix carpentry
    • Patch plastering and making good
    • Painting and decorating
  • Accurately update job progress and completion details using handheld technology/mobile working systems
  • Work closely with supervisors, planners and operational teams to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Complete risk assessments and adhere to health and safety procedures at all times
  • Deliver excellent customer service when working within residents' homes
  • Participate in emergency call-out and out-of-hours rotas when necessary

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Plumbing (or equivalent)
  • Valid Unvented Hot Water Systems Certificate
  • Previous experience across multiple trades, including tiling, carpentry, plastering and decorating
  • Ability to safely isolate and test electrical components
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own professional tool kit
  • Experience within social housing repairs and maintenance
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
