My client is looking for an ambitious Operations Director to join our growing London-based building services consultancy.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical or Electrical building services professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a significant role in the future direction of the business.
They deliver high-quality MEP and sustainable building services consultancy across a diverse range of sectors, including residential, education, commercial, industrial and warehouse/distribution projects. Our work spans mechanical, electrical, public health, fire protection, sustainability, building performance and vertical transportation.


This isnt simply another Operations Director position.

The Role
As Operations Director, you will play a senior leadership role within, combining technical expertise, operational leadership, commercial awareness and client management.
You will work closely with the existing leadership team to ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical and professional standards while helping to develop our people, clients and future strategy.
You will have the autonomy to make a genuine impact and will be expected to become a visible and influential member of the business.


Key Responsibilities
Provide senior leadership across a portfolio of MEP consultancy projects.
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, creating an environment where people can develop and progress.
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while helping to develop new client opportunities.
Take responsibility for project delivery, ensuring quality, programme and commercial performance are maintained.
Provide strategic technical and operational input across projects from inception through to completion.
Support the Directors in developing and implementing the companys growth strategy.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, processes and ways of working.
Support the continued development of MEP and sustainability offering.
Oversee and support project teams across sectors including residential, education, commercial, industrial and warehouse/distribution.
Assist with resource planning, recruitment and the development of future senior engineers.
Take an active role in winning new work, developing client relationships and supporting fee proposals and tenders.
Represent the company at client, design team and industry meetings.
Maintain the high standards of technical excellence and client service for which they are well known for.
Contribute to the companys long-term leadership and succession planning.


Who Were Looking For
We are looking for an experienced building services professional who has the ambition, commercial understanding and leadership ability to become a key figure within the business.
You could come from either a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background. What matters most is your ability to lead people, manage clients, understand the commercial side of consultancy and contribute strategically to the growth of a business.


Ideally, you will have:
A strong background in building services / MEP consultancy.
A Mechanical or Electrical engineering background.
Significant experience delivering complex building services projects.
Strong knowledge of project delivery, design management and consultancy operations.
Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
Commercial awareness and an understanding of consultancy profitability.
The ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
A genuine interest in developing people and building high-performing teams.
The ambition to become part of the long-term leadership of.
Chartered status or relevant professional membership would be advantageous but is not essential.
