About the Client
Our client is a global real estate contractor responsible for a wide portfolio of assets across the UK and internationally. With an expanding programme of works across their London portfolio, they are looking to secure a strong project management team and are seeking an experienced Head of Projects to lead it.
The Opportunity - Head of Projects
This is a senior leadership appointment with full ownership of the business unit's project plan. The incoming Head of Projects will hold P&L responsibility for the projects arm of the business unit, building the pipeline that feeds it and making sure every scheme that is won lands safely, on programme and on margin.
What You'll Be Doing
Winning work
- Building a forward pipeline of opportunities across the client's asset base and existing maintenance contracts
- Owning the bid process from solution design through to tender submission and client presentation
- Growing revenue against an annual financial plan through relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Spotting opportunities to open doors, including through new technologies and methods of delivery
Delivering work
- Making sure schemes complete to time, cost and client satisfaction
- Owning risk across the portfolio, whether technical, statutory, commercial or health and safety related
- Protecting and improving margin through smarter procurement and cost control
- Handling contractual negotiations and disputes both up and down the chain
- Chairing project review meetings with CDM and health and safety as a standing item
Leading the team
- Recruiting, retaining and developing project staff to support current delivery and future growth
- Managing performance, including addressing underperformance where it arises
- Forecasting for the business unit and feeding into wider business unit strategy
- Rolling out governance and new processes across the projects business
About You
The successful Head of Projects will bring a background of delivering complex projects within M&E, FM, construction or critical environments, alongside a demonstrable record of winning new work rather than simply delivering what is handed to them. Commercial credibility matters here: you will have run a P&L before and led a team of your own.
