Full time Construction Building Surveyor/Senior/Associate Architect and Design

Job Description

Architectural Technologist, Bristol £30k - £40k DOE

If you would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Sophie Randle at RGB Recruitment ASAP!

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist to join an established multidisciplinary consultancy in Bristol, working within a specialist team delivering a varied portfolio of refurbishment projects.

This role is slightly different from your typical architectural position, with projects sitting between architecture and building surveying and involving plenty of technical design, detailing and problem solving. You'll work closely with a Senior Architectural Technologist who currently leads a number of projects, supporting them with delivery.

The workload is predominantly refurbishment rather than new build, including interesting and functional projects across prisons and courts, alongside education, residential and healthcare. You'll be involved in understanding existing buildings and developing practical design solutions to improve, adapt and refurbish them.

The role offers plenty of variety and would suit someone who enjoys the technical side of architecture and wants exposure to projects that are a little different from traditional new-build design.

The Role

  • Supporting the Senior Architectural Technologist across a number of live projects
  • Producing technical drawings and detailed design information
  • Working predominantly on refurbishment and improvement projects
  • Developing practical design solutions around existing buildings
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and the wider project team
  • Attending site visits, meetings and inspections
  • Undertaking measured surveys where required
  • Working across projects from design through to technical delivery
Requirements
  • Previous UK practice experience essential
  • Strong technical and detailing ability
  • Revit experience preferred
  • Experience within refurbishment would be beneficial but isn't essential
  • Comfortable working with existing buildings and technical constraints
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work independently whilst also supporting the wider team
You'll be joining an established and supportive consultancy with the opportunity to work on a genuinely varied range of refurbishment projects and develop alongside an experienced Senior Technologist. Flexible working hours, hybrid working and a wider benefits package, with plenty of opportunity to develop your technical experience and take on greater responsibility over time.
