Area Field Operations Manager - Construction
Salary: £34,000 starting pay review after 26 weeks
Location: Area-based (field role)
Covering Wolverhampton - Peterborough - Cambridge (Midlands)
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday, with flexibility required based on business needs)
Reports to: Regional Field Operations Manager / Support Centre Manager

About the Role
This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground leadership role for someone who thrives out on site, not behind a desk. As Area Field Operations Manager, you'll take full ownership of operational delivery across your area - planning the work, leading teams of subcontractors and employed offloaders, and driving performance, compliance and safety on live construction sites every single day. When a site needs sorting, you're the person who makes it happen. If you know your way around construction sites, lead from the front, and get a buzz from keeping a fast-paced operation running like clockwork, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Work allocation
- Liaise with customers as required.
- Plan and allocate work for offloaders in your area, and other areas when needed.
Supervisory
- Lead and manage teams of self-employed and employed offloaders in a fast-paced site environment.
- Ensure 100% compliance with all offloading procedures.
- Achieve performance targets for all offloaders.
- Operate your area in line with budgetary and forecasting requirements.
- Conduct audits on construction sites and vehicles.
- Prepare for allocated work with advance checks (e.g. site visits, Google Maps, contacting site managers and drivers).
- Respond to and resolve any construction site issues during unloading.
- Ensure adequate resource coverage for allocated work, including during sickness or absence.
- Record lateness and absence, and inform Area Field Operations accordingly.
- Build strong working relationships with construction site managers.
- Deliver toolbox talks and ensure completion by unloading teams.
- Train unloaders and keep accurate training records.
- Investigate customer complaints and service issues, providing follow-up and feedback.
- Submit feedback and reports, and complete weekly grading of unloaders.
- Attend and participate in meetings and reviews (Zoom, conference calls or in person).
- Complete any other reasonable tasks as requested by Senior Management or the Support Centre Manager.
Customer service
- Ensure photographic evidence is taken for all completed jobs.
- Attend prearranged construction sites to supervise unloading activities.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety procedures.
- Complete inductions and training, both online and on-site.
- Organise and lead local teams to unload kitchens and appliances into the correct new homes.
- Work collaboratively with the support centre team when required.

Requirements
Essential
- Valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A sound grounding in construction / general site working.
