Clerk of Works Home-Based Location of sites: Norfolk and Suffolk, East Anglia Salary: £50,000 £55,000 DOE Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week I m working with a respected multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy seeking an experienced Clerk of Works / Site Inspector to join its established team. This is a genuinely home-based position covering projects across Norfolk and Suffolk. The successful person will travel directly from home to sites, with no requirement to report routinely to an office. There will be very occasional travel to the London head office. You ll play a key role in maintaining construction quality, compliance and workmanship standards across predominantly residential new-build and refurbishment projects. Working independently, you ll undertake regular inspections, monitor progress and produce clear, detailed reports for clients, Employer s Agents and Project Managers. The Role Undertake regular inspections of new-build and refurbishment projects Monitor progress and verify that works comply with contractual drawings, employer s requirements, Building Regulations and warranty standards Identify and report on defects, discrepancies and workmanship issues Maintain accurate and current defect trackers Undertake snagging, de-snagging and end-of-defects inspections Produce detailed, timely inspection reports supported by photographs Liaise confidently with contractors, consultants, clients and project teams Maintain project records in accordance with company quality-assurance procedures About You You ll have previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or Construction Quality Inspector, together with excellent knowledge of building construction and a strong eye for detail. You must be capable of working autonomously, managing your own site visits and producing high-quality written reports using clear professional and technical language. Membership of ICWCI or CIOB is desirable, although candidates with strong relevant experience who are working towards professional membership will also be considered. As the position covers sites throughout Norfolk and Suffolk, you should live within reasonable travelling distance of the region and be comfortable travelling directly to different projects from home. Requirements Previous Clerk of Works or directly relevant construction-inspection experience Strong knowledge of building construction, workmanship and quality standards Experience inspecting residential new-build and/or refurbishment projects Understanding of Building Regulations and warranty-provider standards Familiarity with JCT and NEC forms of contract Strong written reporting and interpersonal skills Confidence using Microsoft Office and tablet-based inspection software Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle The Offer This is a full-time, home-based position offering considerable flexibility and autonomy. Leading a small team, the Facilities and Operations Manager will be responsible for providing a seamless support service to manage and deliver high quality proactive and reactive maintenance to a standard which is in accordance with the nature of the Aga Khan Centre and provides value for money. The role covers all aspects of repairs & maintenance including plumbing, air conditioning, electrics, building fabric, health & safety and emergency support and requires the postholder to be hands on, supporting the maintenance team with technical support, knowledge & coordination as well as executing PPM plans, managing contractors and overseeing and inspecting works. This is a senior opportunity for someone who wants to build Berrys' strategic land presence in Towcester, using the firm's established client base, regional reputation and multi-disciplinary platform as a springboard for growth. The Role Berrys is looking for a commercially minded strategic land professional to lead and grow its strategic land and development consultancy presence from the Towcester office. This is a senior, fee-generating role with a clear commercial mandate from day one. The successful candidate will be expected to create the opportunity. Towcester offers a highly relevant geography for strategic land, with access to landowners, developers, promoters, and professional networks across Northamptonshire and the surrounding area. Berrys provides the brand, established client relationships and multi-disciplinary platform to build from; the right person will read the market, build the right relationships and turn them into instructions. For the right individual, this role also offers a longer-term opportunity to become an important part of the Towcester office's future leadership. Berrys is planning for continued growth and succession, creating scope for the successful candidate to take on wider influence as the role develops. Key Responsibilities Lead Berrys' strategic land and development consultancy presence from the Towcester office, setting its direction and driving its growth Build a pipeline of strategic land instructions, development agency opportunities and related consultancy work Identify, create and convert new business opportunities with landowners, developers, promoters, agents and professional contacts Build and maintain external client relationships alongside Berrys' internal referral network Provide strategic advice to landowners on land promotion, development potential, disposal strategy, planning risk and value creation Work collaboratively with colleagues across rural surveying, valuation, planning, property agency and wider consultancy disciplines Act as the senior figurehead for strategic land within the Towcester office and the wider market Set a clear business plan for growth and shape the long-term development of the strategic land function Candidate Profile An experienced and commercially driven strategic land professional, ready to operate at a senior level: Strong experience in strategic land, development agency, land promotion, rural property consultancy or a closely related field A demonstrable track record of winning work, generating fees and developing client relationships in a consultancy environment A strong understanding of the strategic land process, including promotion strategy, planning risk, valuation drivers and disposal routes Commercially minded, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating with autonomy Confident and credible with landowners, developers, promoters, agents, planners and wider professional stakeholders Able to create and deliver a business plan and be motivated to build and take ownership of it A genuine interest in broader leadership or partnership within a multi-disciplinary practice over time Likely operating at Associate Director, Director, Partner or equivalent level, or ready to make that step; professionally qualified or strongly experienced, with MRICS or equivalent preferred Why Berrys?
