Site Agent / Site Manager North & West London / Hertfordshire Are you an experienced Site Agent or Site Manager with a strong civil engineering background looking for a role offering a varied portfolio of projects rather than being tied to one site or scheme? This is an opportunity to join an established Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong pipeline of work across North London, West London and Hertfordshire . You will work across a variety of civils and water projects, providing exposure to different schemes, environments and technical challenges. The business operates a direct-delivery model and has significant in-house engineering and delivery capability, with specialist expertise spanning civil engineering, tunnelling, MEICA and design. Alongside the project exposure, there is a strong focus on developing and retaining people, with internal progression, leadership development, coaching and ongoing technical training forming part of the wider career proposition. The Role As Site Agent / Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects across the region, working closely with Project and Contracts Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and site teams. You will have ownership of safe and effective site delivery, programme, quality and commercial performance, while maintaining strong relationships with the client and wider project stakeholders. The position will involve managing project programmes and short-term lookaheads, ensuring appropriate resources and procurement are in place, overseeing project plans, RAMS and ITPs, and maintaining control of cost, value and project reporting. Depending on the scheme, you may also lead Sub Agents, Engineers and Foremen as part of the delivery team. About You You will need: Previous experience working as a Site Agent or Site Manager for a civil engineering contractor Experience delivering projects within a highly regulated environment Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent Good understanding of contract conditions, CDM, programme and risk management and cost control Strong knowledge of general civil engineering specifications and testing regimes CSCS IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS Temporary Works Coordinator Confined Space training Strong communication, leadership and team management skills Ability to challenge designs, resolve problems and take ownership through to conclusion Knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract , Primavera P6 and CEng MICE or equivalent are desirable. This is a 12-month contract opportunity offering up to £69 per hour , with hybrid working available. The role is based in Epsom / Woodcote Grove , with approximately 3 days per week office or site based . The Opportunity We are looking to speak with experienced Design Managers who can coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, manage technical delivery and support complex design packages throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Coordinate or manage multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering water infrastructure projects. Manage the production and review of technical deliverables including design reports, drawings, calculations and scopes of work. Drive technical input across project design stages, ensuring quality, consistency and compliance. Work with project management teams to successfully manage time and budgets against key project milestones and programmes. Collaborate with clients, operational teams, project teams and related internal teams. Provide technical leadership, mentorship and support to less experienced colleagues. Support technical and delivery input for bid proposals. Work collaboratively with UK and overseas multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions. Ensure quality assurance standards are maintained across design delivery. Coordinate with relevant disciplines including MEICA, structures and geotechnics. Apply relevant national and project-specific design codes and standards across water infrastructure projects. Essential Skills & Experience Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent . Preferably Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer . Proven experience coordinating or managing an engineering design delivery team within a design consultancy. Strong experience within the Water sector is essential. Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment and collaborating with contractors. Proven ability to deliver across the full project lifecycle. Strong knowledge and practical experience in risk assessment, quality control, change management, commercial awareness and design management. Experience coordinating with disciplines involved in water infrastructure design and delivery, including MEICA, structures and geotechnics . Practical knowledge of current design codes, standards and industry best practice, including CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, regulatory requirements, water utility standards and NEC . Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Proactive and highly motivated approach with strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Desirable Experience Experience across clean water, wastewater, water reuse or pipeline infrastructure . Experience working within large multidisciplinary consultancy environments. Previous experience mentoring or developing less experienced colleagues.
