You will report to a Head of Delivery and lead a team of around 4 5 Project Managers, with responsibility for approximately 30km of HS2 route and the delivery of the major civil engineering assets within your section. This isn't a role where you'll be managing a single package. You'll have oversight of a substantial section of railway, working across major earthworks, bridges, viaducts, green tunnels, highways and associated infrastructure. Detailed design is complete and the programme is now firmly in the delivery phase, with approximately three years of construction, completion and handover ahead. Two Opportunities NC2a South Aylesbury A key section of HS2 forming part of the programme's designated core test area. Major works include the Wendover Green Tunnel, Wendover North Cutting, Leather Lane Green Bridge and associated earthworks, landscaping and infrastructure. G2S Greatworth to Southam EKFB's northernmost section, covering major structures including the Chipping Warden and Greatworth Green Tunnels, 515m Edgcote Viaduct, Oxford Canal Viaduct, A423 Banbury Road Bridge, Ladbroke Cutting and Long Itchington Wood Tunnel. What You'll Do Lead and develop an integrated team of approximately 4 5 Project Managers. Take responsibility for delivery across your section of route. Monitor programme, cost, productivity, quality and delivery performance. Review and challenge contractor programmes and construction methodologies. Identify and manage delivery risks, issues and opportunities. Ensure construction is delivered safely and in accordance with HS2 and CDM requirements. We're looking for someone who understands how complex infrastructure gets built and who can bring contractors, suppliers and stakeholders together to keep delivery moving. Significant project or construction management experience on major infrastructure projects. Strong civil engineering delivery experience across heavy civils, rail, highways, tunnelling, nuclear or similarly complex environments. Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and programme delivery. Ability to challenge contractor programmes and performance without needing to be a specialist planner. Proven contractor and supply-chain management experience. Experience leading integrated teams and managing complex interfaces. Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple organisations and competing requirements. Collaborative, confident and solutions-driven approach. Understanding of CDM within major construction projects. Experience monitoring cost, schedule, productivity and delivery performance. Client-side or consultancy experience would be advantageous. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between project sites. Why HS2? You will be joining at one of the most important points in the delivery of the railway with detailed design complete and major construction works still to be delivered. Your responsibility will extend beyond an individual project package. You'll lead a significant section of route, manage a team of Project Managers and work directly with the main contractor and wider HS2 organisation to get the railway built. The progression opportunity is genuine: the previous Senior Project Managers have already moved into Head of Delivery roles. And when this section is complete, HS2 has further major opportunities across stations and railway systems, with the wider programme continuing through to 2039. Package £100,000 £111,578 salary, potentially up to £120,000 depending on experience. 12% employer pension contribution. Private healthcare. 25 days holiday. Direct employment with High Speed Two Ltd. Progression to Head of Delivery circa £133,000 + package.
