Job Description

We're looking for a Part 2 Architectural Assistant or Recently Qualified Architect to join a growing team delivering high-quality residential care and retirement living developments across the UK.

Based at our client's modern Leeds office, conveniently located just off the M62, you'll become part of a collaborative team specialising in designing communities that genuinely improve quality of life. Their projects focus on creating modern care homes and retirement living developments that combine thoughtful design with technical excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious architectural professional looking to build their experience across all RIBA work stages. Working alongside experienced architects, technologists and development professionals, you'll gain exposure to projects from concept design through to completion while developing your technical, design and project delivery skills.

The Role

As a Part 2 Architectural Assistant or Recently Qualified Architect, you'll support the design and delivery of projects across all RIBA work stages, contributing to high-quality architectural solutions from initial concept through to construction.

Working within a multidisciplinary development team, you'll gain valuable experience across the full project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, planning applications, technical design and site delivery, on a range of residential and specialist accommodation schemes.

About the Projects

You'll contribute to a portfolio of award-winning residential care and retirement living developments, including:

  • Care homes
  • Retirement living communities
  • Multi-room residential accommodation
  • Mixed-use and specialist residential developments

Many schemes are delivered on a full turnkey basis, providing the opportunity to experience every stage of the development process, from land acquisition and planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Project Delivery

  • Assist in the design and development of projects across all RIBA work stages.
  • Produce high-quality architectural drawings, presentation material and technical information using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Support planning applications, Building Regulations submissions and detailed design packages.
  • Develop creative design solutions that respond to client briefs, planning policy and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to design reviews and project meetings with internal teams and external consultants.

Project Coordination

  • Work collaboratively with architects, consultants, contractors and the wider development team.
  • Assist in coordinating project information to ensure designs are accurate, coordinated and compliant.
  • Attend site visits and design team meetings to monitor progress and help resolve design and construction queries.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects through all project stages.

Professional Development

  • Receive mentoring from experienced Architects and senior team members.
  • Gain exposure to project management and client liaison responsibilities.
  • Continue developing your technical knowledge, design skills and professional experience towards becoming a Project Architect.
  • Contribute ideas that enhance design quality, project delivery and working practices.

Requirements

Essential

  • RIBA Part 2 qualified or recently qualified Architect (ARB registered or working towards registration).
  • Experience within a UK architectural practice.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning processes and construction methods.
  • Strong design, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team.

Desirable

  • Experience working on residential or care sector projects.
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows.
  • Experience across multiple RIBA work stages.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering thoughtful, buildable architecture.
