The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Site Manager to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering specialist infrastructure projects across the water, utilities, environmental and civil engineering sectors.

The company has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure schemes, working in partnership with major utility providers and public sector clients. Their portfolio includes rising mains, clean and wastewater infrastructure, pipelines, pumping stations, drainage, reinforced concrete structures, highways, and associated civil engineering works. With a strong order book and a collaborative approach to project delivery, they continue to secure major projects throughout the South West.

The Role

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Civil Site Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of a rising mains and water infrastructure project. This is a hands-on role requiring an individual who can confidently manage site operations, maintain programme, and build strong working relationships with both the client and the delivery team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the construction programme, coordinating subcontractors and direct labour, managing site resources, and ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Strong client-facing skills are essential, as you will act as the primary site representative, attending progress meetings, resolving issues proactively, and maintaining excellent communication throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day delivery of rising mains and water infrastructure works.

Drive the construction programme to ensure key milestones are achieved.

Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, plant, and material deliveries.

Oversee civil engineering activities including pipelines, drainage, chambers, reinforced concrete works, excavation, reinstatement, utilities, and associated infrastructure.

Maintain excellent relationships with the client, consultants, and project stakeholders.

Chair daily briefings and site coordination meetings.

Ensure all works are delivered safely and in accordance with approved RAMS and project specifications.

Monitor quality, carry out inspections, and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Produce site reports, maintain accurate records, and provide regular progress updates.

Work closely with Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery.

Identify risks, resolve site issues quickly, and maintain project momentum.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Site Manager on water, utilities, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of rising mains, pipelines, drainage, and heavy civils.

Excellent programme management and organisational skills.

Confident client-facing individual with the ability to build strong working relationships.

Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.

Strong leadership skills with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Full UK Driving Licence.
