Technical Designer - Exhibitions & Events

An established specialist contractor is looking for a Technical Designer to join its creative production team, delivering bespoke projects across the TV, film and live events markets.

The role will suit someone who understands how creative concepts are translated into detailed, buildable designs for workshop manufacture and on-site installation.

• Produce detailed technical, construction and workshop drawings
• Develop practical build solutions from creative concepts and client briefs
• Work closely with project managers, designers, fabricators and workshop teams
• Prepare drawings suitable for CNC production and bespoke fabrication
• Review materials, construction methods, tolerances and installation requirements
• Resolve technical challenges while maintaining the original design intent
• Manage drawing revisions across multiple fast-paced projects
• Support projects through design, manufacture and installation

• Previous technical design experience within TV, film, live events, theatre, scenic construction or experiential builds
• Strong technical drawing and construction detailing ability
• Experience designing bespoke sets, scenery, installations or event structures
• Proficiency in Rhino, SketchUp or similar design software
• Understanding of CNC production, workshop fabrication and site installation
• Ability to turn creative ideas into practical, buildable solutions
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• Comfortable working to demanding production deadlines
