Location: Cornwall
Salary: £60k + £5400 car allowance

The Opportunity

An established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team, supporting the delivery of a long-term water infrastructure framework across Cornwall and Devon.

Working on a varied portfolio of projects ranging from £50k to £5m, you'll be involved in pricing and securing a wide range of infrastructure schemes including:
  • Pipelines
  • Reservoirs
  • Pumping stations
  • Screens
  • Runaways
  • Associated water infrastructure and civil engineering works
Operating within a collaborative pre-construction team, the Estimator will play a key role in producing accurate, competitive submissions while supporting the successful delivery of framework projects.

The Role

As Estimator, you'll be responsible for:
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates for water infrastructure projects across clean and wastewater frameworks.
  • Developing pricing using framework schedules of rates, first principle estimating and NEC contract mechanisms.
  • Producing high-quality tender and pre-construction documentation.
  • Reviewing project scope and identifying commercial opportunities and risks.
  • Working closely with operational teams to develop winning submissions.
  • Liaising with clients and framework partners throughout the estimating process.
  • Ensuring all pre-construction documentation meets client and CDM requirements.
  • Managing multiple estimates simultaneously while working to tight deadlines.
  • Maintaining estimating data and supporting continuous improvements to internal systems.
About You To be successful as an Estimator, you'll ideally have:
  • Previous estimating experience within civil engineering or utilities.
  • A strong background delivering water infrastructure projects.
  • Experience pricing works including pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations or similar assets.
  • Knowledge of framework contracts, schedule of rates and first principle estimating.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and collaboratively.
