Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a high-profile project at Devonport Dockyard. This is a key commercial leadership role supporting the successful delivery of work within a secure environment.
Current and active SC (Security Check) Clearance is an essential requirement for this position. Candidates who already hold active SC clearance will be strongly preferred, as obtaining clearance can take approximately 12-14 weeks, which may impact project mobilisation timescales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all commercial aspects of the project from delivery through to completion.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts to ensure effective cost control.
  • Identify, assess and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, administration and commercial performance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key commercial interface.
  • Support commercial reporting, valuations, change management and final accounts.
  • Collaborate with project teams to drive commercial performance and successful project outcomes.
Essential Requirements
  • Active SC (Security Check) Clearance (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Strong commercial management experience within one or more of the following sectors:
    • Major Infrastructure
    • Civil Engineering
    • Defence
  • Extensive knowledge of contract administration, commercial management and cost control.
  • Experience managing commercial risk and subcontractor relationships.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within secure, highly regulated or defence environments.
  • Familiarity with complex infrastructure or government-funded projects.
