Construction Buyer / Procurement Manager

Bedford
£45,000 - £55,000 + Excellent Benefits
Permanent Full-Time

Our client is a growing multidisciplinary construction contractor delivering commercial build, refurbishment, fit-out, M&E and specialist engineering projects across the UK. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Construction Buyer / Procurement Manager to join their Bedford office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer ready to take the next step in their career, or an established Procurement professional looking to play a key role in developing and improving the company's procurement function.

Working closely with the Estimating, Commercial and Operations teams, you'll be responsible for driving value through the supply chain, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered with the right materials, at the right price and on time.

The Role

• Lead procurement activities across multiple live construction projects.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors.
• Negotiate pricing, rebates and framework agreements to deliver best value.
• Support the Estimating team by obtaining competitive supplier quotations for tenders.
• Analyse procurement spend and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality and delivery standards.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures and supplier governance requirements.
• Produce procurement reports and maintain accurate purchasing records.

About You

• Previous experience as a Construction Buyer, Senior Buyer or Procurement professional within construction, M&E, fit-out or building services.
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement processes.
• Able to work collaboratively with commercial, estimating and operational teams.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
