Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering infrastructure and groundworks projects across the North East. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Teesside.

The Role
Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will assist with the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects from inception through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation of cost plans and budgets.
- Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Preparing and processing subcontract documentation.
- Measuring and valuing completed works.
- Assisting with monthly valuations and applications for payment.
- Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks.
- Supporting the preparation of variations and compensation events.
- Assisting with cost reporting and forecasting.
- Helping prepare final accounts.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Liaising with site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Requirements
- HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within construction or civil engineering (placement year or up to 2 years' experience considered).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
