Estimator - Restoration

We are working with a highly respected specialist restoration contractor that has built an outstanding reputation for delivering exceptional restoration, refurbishment and conservation projects on some of the UK's most prestigious historic buildings.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their expanding commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work on unique, technically challenging projects involving Grade I and Grade II listed buildings and architecturally significant landmarks.

The Role
Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will be responsible for preparing competitive tenders, managing project costs and supporting projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Producing and issuing subcontract enquiries.
- Reviewing and comparing subcontract quotations.
- Carrying out site visits and surveys to assess project requirements.
- Supporting the contracts team with commercial advice before and after contract award.
- Pricing variations, valuations and final accounts.
- Preparing tender documentation and supporting information.
- Negotiating tenders and contracts with clients and subcontractors.
- Reviewing contract documentation and identifying commercial risks.
- Assisting with extension of time (EOT) claims and contractual matters.
- Supporting dispute resolution where required.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Leading or supporting bid presentations.
- Monitoring enquiry success rates and reporting on commercial performance.
About You
To be considered, you should have:
- At least 5 years' experience in an Estimator, Quantity Surveyor or combined Estimator/QS role.
- A strong understanding of construction, refurbishment or restoration projects.
- Excellent commercial awareness with a proven ability to deliver profitable outcomes.
- Experience preparing competitive tenders and managing project costs.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- The confidence to build lasting relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing as part of a collaborative team.
Experience working on heritage, listed building or conservation projects would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
