Section Engineer Major Infrastructure Project

Location: Birmingham / West Midlands
Job Type: Permanent

Red Sky Personnel are working alongside a well-established civil engineering contractor self-delivering works on one of the UK s largest infrastructure schemes. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Section Engineer to support the delivery of works on a major infrastructure package in the Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading contractor working on a nationally significant project involving complex civil engineering and infrastructure works.

The Role

The Section Engineer will take responsibility for the technical delivery of a designated section of works, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, quality, and project requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the engineering delivery of a section of works, including earthworks, drainage, highways, RC structures, and infrastructure elements
  • Leading site engineering activities and providing technical support to Site and Graduate Engineers
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Coordinating subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are delivered to programme
  • Overseeing setting out, quality assurance, and as-built documentation
  • Managing ITPs, inspections, and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Supporting short-term planning and sequencing of works
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
Requirements
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • CSCS card (White CSCS Academically Qualified Person preferred)
  • Proven experience working as a Section Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in heavy civils, highways, rail, or large infrastructure schemes
  • Experience managing engineering activities, QA documentation, and technical site delivery
  • Strong setting out experience using Leica, Trimble, or Total Station equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (desirable)
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
