General Foreman - Tunnelling Project
Location: Derby
Contract: 12 Months
Rate: £330 -£350 per day
We are currently recruiting for an experienced
General Foreman to join a major tunnelling project based in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a significant infrastructure scheme, working alongside an established project team on a long-term contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme, quality, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
- Supervise direct labour, subcontractors, and plant resources to maximise productivity and programme performance.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance across the site.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions, ensuring all personnel understand project requirements and safe systems of work.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and proactively identify and resolve site issues.
- Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, Engineers, and commercial team to ensure effective project delivery.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, drawings, specifications, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, workforce allocation, inspections, and permit documentation.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the wider project team through clear and professional communication.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid SMSTS qualification.
- A valid CSCS card.
- EUSR accreditation.
- Proven experience as a General Foreman on tunnelling, heavy civil engineering, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate multidisciplinary site teams.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
