Job Description

Join a high-performing Buildings & Places team delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile projects.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Cost & Commercial team in the North East, working across a diverse project portfolio spanning education, commercial, defence, industrial, and retail sectors.
We're looking for someone commercially astute, proactive, and relationship-driven - a Quantity Surveyor who combines technical capability with strong stakeholder management and a genuine desire to add value.
You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered commercially successfully, with robust cost control, effective risk management, and clear reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

You'll support both pre- and post-contract delivery, working closely with clients, project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project costs from feasibility through to final account
  • Producing accurate cost plans, estimates, and financial reporting
  • Monitoring budgets, forecasts, and commercial performance
  • Supporting procurement activities, including contractor evaluation and appointment
  • Administering contracts, managing variations, and ensuring contractual compliance
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial risk while driving value engineering opportunities
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to successful project outcomes

We're keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who bring both technical strength and commercial awareness.

You'll ideally have:

  • A BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Progress toward or achievement of Chartered status with RICS
  • Strong experience across pre- and post-contract QS duties
  • Working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Good understanding of NRM / methods of measurement
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
