Key Responsibilities
- Delivering mechanical design outputs in line with safety and quality requirements
- Producing calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Leading coordination with CAD technicians and supporting their development
- Managing interfaces with subcontract design teams (including M&E)
- Preparing scopes and reviewing third-party design outputs
- Engaging with suppliers, reviewing tenders, and supporting equipment selection
- Producing reports, specifications, and design investigations
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and engineering practices
- Managing design changes and ensuring accurate documentation
- Supporting estimation and planning of design activities
- Attending and presenting at technical and client meetings
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical design within the UK water sector
- Exposure to both clean water and wastewater projects (infrastructure and non-infrastructure)
- Experience with hydraulic design and associated calculations
- Knowledge of programmes such as UMON or similar upgrade schemes
- Understanding of construction methods and engineering drawing practices
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership
- Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Degree, HND, or equivalent experience
