A medium-sized housing developer seeks a Finishing Manager to support the site management team in Mansfield. This role is integral to preparing plots for air testing and assisting with the final stages of construction, including staging and ensuring quality standards are met before handover.
Job Description
The Finishing Manager is responsible for overseeing the final phase of the construction process on residential sites. This includes managing finishing works, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring that plots are prepared accurately for air testing. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to guarantee the quality and compliance of each plot before completion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all finishing activities on site to ensure readiness for air testing and final inspection.
- Oversee the staging process, ensuring that all materials and workmanship meet specified standards.
- Collaborate closely with site management and subcontractors to maintain project timelines and quality control.
- Inspect and verify that all finishing works comply with building regulations, company standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of progress, issues, and resolutions relating to finishing stages.
- Identify and resolve any defects or snags promptly to avoid delays in handover.
- Support the site management team with general duties as required to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to risk assessments and method statements during finishing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card relevant to management level.
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Education and Experience
- Proven experience in a finishing management role within the residential construction sector.
- Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, particularly relating to final stages and air testing preparation.
- Previous experience working with housing developers or similar medium-sized construction companies is advantageous.
- Sound understanding of health and safety legislation and best practises on site.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple plots and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Attention to detail to ensure quality standards and regulatory compliance are consistently met.
- Problem-solving aptitude to identify and address issues quickly and efficiently.
- Competency in using digital tools for reporting and record-keeping.
Working Conditions
- Full-time contract position based on-site in Church Warsop, Nottinghamshire.
- Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of the East Midlands region.
- Regular travel between plots and site locations within the local area may be required.
- Use of personal protective equipment and strict adherence to site safety protocols at all times.
