Design Coordinator/Senior Design Engineer HS2 Project Location: Birmingham (Hybrid) Contract: Outside IR35 We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting a major HS2 programme during the construction phase. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on with technical delivery and design coordination. Rather than a purely managerial role, you'll be actively involved in coordinating multidisciplinary design packages, working closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure designs are delivered to the highest standards. The Role As Design Coordinator, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of allocated civil engineering design packages, ensuring work is completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical standards. Key responsibilities include: Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams to deliver construction-phase design packages. Managing the production of drawings, specifications, reports and technical documentation. Ensuring designs comply with relevant engineering standards, legislation and project requirements. Working closely with construction teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable and deliver value for money. Preparing and reviewing engineering calculations and technical deliverables. Maintaining hazard and risk registers for allocated design packages. Supporting design reviews and ensuring consistency and quality across project deliverables. Liaising with internal stakeholders, contractors and third parties throughout the design process. Monitoring programme, budget and technical performance of allocated work packages. Assisting the Design and Engineering Managers with project delivery and reporting. Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations. Supporting continuous improvement of quality and integrated management systems. About You We're looking for someone who enjoys coordinating technical detail, communicating across multidisciplinary teams and driving design delivery. You'll ideally have: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related discipline. Previous experience coordinating design on major infrastructure, rail or civil engineering projects. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination and construction-phase support. Experience producing or reviewing technical design deliverables. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive approach with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. The following would be advantageous: Chartered status (ICE, CIOB, RIBA or equivalent). Membership of a relevant professional institution. Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or rail projects. Senior Project Manager x 4 £20m to £40m RC Frame & Groundwork Packages £90,000 to £110,000 per annum + benefits + bonus (PAYE or Self Employed) The Employers: Based in North West London with a current turnover of £100m per annum. Projects include city-focused commercial and residential high-rise frames, as well as complex civils packages on HS2 Based in Hertfordshire with a current turnover of £120m per annum. Projects all inside London, focusing on mid to high-rise RC frames for residential development projects. Based in East London with £80m turnover. Current projects include a mixture of cut & carve, RC frame and groundwork packages. Based in South West London, current turnover above £200m per annum, working on some of the largest structures and groundwork packages in and around London. About the Opportunities: I have been asked to find multiple Project Managers capable of delivering large reinforced concrete frame/structures, basements and associated groundworks packages on projects in and around London (initially, there are projects secured in South East London, North West London, Central London and North London). Individuals will need to have a strong understanding of everything from piling, groundworks, basement construction and concrete frame construction, while working on a mixture of residential and commercial projects in the past, directly for the sub-contractor overseeing these packages with values of at least £15m. Usual duties will apply from overall management of the site team, technical management of the programme and works, through to management of the client and surrounding aspects (i.e. health & safety, temporary works, engineering solutions and site meetings). About the Requirements: Suitable candidates need to be degree qualified in civil engineering or construction management and must be able to show a strong history from a site engineer level through to management over the last 5-10+ years. It is crucial that candidates can show a strong amount of concrete frame construction background having worked for rival concrete frame and groundwork subcontractors in the UK. Candidates from a main contract or development background cannot be considered. Regarding software, our client uses the usual Microsoft programmes, standard email functions and Asta Power Project for planning/programming works. Project Managers will be required to use all these tools. I need Project Managers who have stable backgrounds, have delivered medium to large RC frames and are looking to work for the best of the best. Land Surveyor / Senior Land Surveyor - Tier 1 Contractor - Major Aviation Project - Heathrow. My client is a Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor. They are currently delivering a major civil engineering project at Heathrow Airport and require reinforcements in the form of Land Surveyors / Senior Land Surveyors for day and night works. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Survey Control: Establish, maintain, and verify primary and secondary survey control networks across multiple active work fronts. Setting Out: Deliver precise setting out for heavy precast elements, modular components, and insitu reinforced concrete works. Tolerance Management: Monitor and enforce strict engineering tolerances to ensure exact alignment of structural elements. As-Built Surveys: Conduct regular as-built surveys and data verification against design models. Data & QA: Process survey data and produce Quality Assurance (QA) documentation, deformation monitoring reports, and structural sign-offs. Coordination: Liaise with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and BIM teams to resolve spatial discrepancies and maintain sequencing. Equipment: Expert operation of Robotic Total Stations (Leica/Trimble), GNSS/GPS, and Digital Levels. Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and survey processing software (e.g., Leica Infinity, Trimble Business Center, LSS). Precision: Track record of maintaining millimeter-level accuracy under tight construction schedules. Qualifications: Degree/Diploma in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
